Timber Surfaces

Stainless steel is durable and low maintenance. Stainless steel will show scratches over time with use, these are cosmetic and do not affect performance. To keep the surface clean and in good condition, follow these steps:

Daily Cleaning
Wipe the surface with a soft cloth, warm water, and mild detergent. Rinse with clean water and dry thoroughly. In hard water areas, use a non-abrasive cream cleanser (e.g. Jif) occasionally to prevent buildup of mineral deposits. A small amount of baby oil or olive oil on a cloth can be used to finish and restore shine if required.

Preventing Damage

  • Do not use scouring powders, abrasive pads, or steel wool. These can scratch the surface or leave metal fragments that may rust.

  • Do not place hot pots or pans directly on the benchtop. Heat can break down the adhesive underneath, causing the stainless steel to lift. This damage is not repairable.

  • Avoid chlorine-based cleaners. Chlorine causes corrosion on stainless steel, regardless of grade.

  • Minor stains can be removed with a cream cleanser and soft cloth.

Casett kitchens are made from natural timber and finished with Osmo natural oil or durable polyurethane to bring out the beauty and longevity of the material. With the right care your kitchen will age gracefully.

Daily Care:

Wipe surfaces with a damp cloth. Avoid traditional cleaners as they can dissolve protective oil and wax layers. To maintain the integrity and longevity of your surfaces, regular cleaning with a simple damp cloth is recommended. Harsh chemicals found in many traditional cleaning products can be detrimental, as they can break down and dissolve the protective layers of natural oils and waxes that are often applied to surfaces to enhance their appearance and provide a degree of protection against wear and environmental factors.

To Avoid Common Issues

  • Do not place metal cans directly on oiled surfaces – they can leave permanent black marks.

  • Use trivets under hot items and coasters for drinks.

  • Wipe spills immediately, especially on wood and steel.

Weekly / Heavy duty Cleaning:

For regular and effective cleaning of your Osmo oiled wood surfaces, we highly recommend using Osmo Spray Cleaner. This product has been expertly formulated and specifically designed to be perfectly compatible with all Osmo finished surfaces, ensuring optimal cleaning performance without damaging the protective oil layer.

Recommended Products

Use Osmo Spray Cleaner for timber surfaces and Howard Orange Oil for occasional polishing. For stainless steel, use non-abrasive cleaners and dry thoroughly to prevent marks.

Periodic Maintenance

Reapply Osmo Polyx-Oil every 2–3 years on benchtops, and every 3–5 years on drawer fronts or low-use areas. Light scratches can often be spot-sanded and re-oiled.

Engineered Stone

Engineered stone is a durable, low-maintenance surface that’s ideal for kitchen use. To keep it looking its best, follow these simple guidelines.

Avoid the following:

  • Sitting, standing, or placing heavy weight on the benchtop

  • Putting hot pots, pans, or appliances directly on the surface – always use a trivet

  • Cutting food directly on the stone – use a chopping board

  • Impact from heavy or sharp objects which may chip or crack the surface

  • Exposure to harsh chemicals, solvents, or highly alkaline cleaners

Matte Finish Note:
Matte-finished engineered stone is as durable as polished options but may show oil marks from food, products, or even skin contact. These marks aren’t permanent but require more frequent cleaning. Silicone-based products may leave a permanent sheen and should only be used where necessary, such as for splashback or join sealing.

Cleaning Guidelines:

  • Use a mild, neutral pH cleaner or stone-specific spray cleaner for everyday cleaning

  • Wipe spills immediately using a soft cloth or non-abrasive sponge

  • For stubborn stains, use a diluted cream cleanser and apply with a soft cloth or non-scratch pad

  • Engineered stone is non-porous and does not require sealing or polishing

  •  If your benchtop appears too shiny or blotchy, it may be due to cleaning residue. Always rinse thoroughly after cleaning and avoid the use of silicon-based products across large areas.

Drawer and Hinge

Blum drawers are maintenance-free but can be adjusted if needed. Video guides are available to help with alignment or soft-close settings.
